How to Install and Use Global Protect VPN Client on Mac OS

  1. Navigate to https://remote.risd.edu in your web browser.
  2. You will be brought to the RISD Authentication Service page. Enter your RISD username and password.
  3. Click 'Download Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent' and then 'save file' to download the file
  4. Run the downloaded file. You will need your computer's admin username and password to install.



  5. In the middle of the installation, you will be prompted to grant the "Installer" access to your Downloads folder. Press "OK".



  6. Once the client has been installed, the Global Protect icon will appear in the menu bar at the top of your screen. Click the icon to set up the VPN connection.

  7. Type remote.risd.edu into the Portal Address field and click Connect.



  8. You will be brought to the RISD Authentication Service page. Enter your RISD username and password.


  9. Once you are connected to the VPN, the global protect icon in the menu bar will show a white shield.
