How Do I Reset My RISD Account Password
RISD has a "self-service" password service password.risd.edu. RISD account passwords expire every 6 months. You will receive three warning notifications (10, 5, and 1 day) before your password expires.
Please review the differences between the two options available.
Forgot Password
To use this feature, RISD faculty, staff, and students must first enroll.
Alumni and pre-college students are automatically enrolled.
*Faculty, staff, students:

*Alumni:
are automatically enrolled with their alumni email address.
alumni must have an email forward set on their @alumni.risd.edu email address to utilize this service.
if an alum does not have an email forward set, they can request one by contacting RISD Advancement Services (advancementservices@risd.edu).
*Pre-College students:
are automatically enrolled with their personal email.
pre-college students must use the email verification method when prompted for 2-Factor authentication (2FA).
Once enrolled, follow these steps:
Visit password.risd.edu and click "Forgot Password"
Enter your username only (do not include @risd.edu).
Enter the number captcha, and click continue.
Complete the 2-Factor authentication (2FA) using Email, SMS, or DUO 2FA (recommended).
Follow the prompts to enter a new password and confirm the password.
You should receive a green message stating the password change was successful.
*If you did not receive the email with the secure link, check your SPAM and trash folders in case the email went there instead of your inbox.
Change Password or Enroll
Faculty, staff, students, alumni and pre-college:
This option will only work if you have a working or system-generated password.
Visit password.risd.edu and select “Change Password or Enroll”
Enter your username only (do not include @risd.edu).
Enter your current or system generated password.
Complete the 2-Factor authentication (2FA) using Email, SMS, or DUO 2FA (recommended).
Once verified, you will be prompted to enter your old password (this is your current or system generated password).
Enter a new (unique) password and again to confirm.
Click Change Password.
You should receive a green message stating the password change was successful.
How to Enroll in self-service?
Enrolling involves entering an alternate email (non-RISD) address, cell phone (SMS), and/or use DUO 2FA.
If your password has expired and have not enrolled in self-service, you must contact the Service Desk (401) 454-6106 Monday through Friday (8 AM - 5 PM EST) to change your password over the phone.
