How Do I Reset My RISD Account Password
RISD has a "self-service" password service password.risd.edu. RISD account passwords expire every 6 months. You will receive three warning notifications (10, 5, and 1 day) before your password expires.
Please review the differences between the two options available.
Forgot Password
To take advantage of this feature, *users must be enrolled to use it. Enrolling involves entering an alternate email (non-risd) address, cell phone, and/or use DUO.
*Faculty, staff, students:
Requires you to enroll. See how to enroll below.
*Alumni:
You are pre-enrolled with your alumni email address. However, alumni must have a forwarding email set on your @alumni.risd.edu email address for this to work. If you do not yet have a fowarding email set, you may request one be set by contacting RISD Advancement Services at advancmentservices@risd.edu.
*Pre-College:
You are pre-enrolled with your personal email when your account is created.
Once enrolled, follow these steps to reset your password:
Visit password.risd.edu and click "Forgot Password"
Enter your username (do not include @risd.edu).
Enter the captcha, and click continue.
Select the email from the drop-down list where the secure link will be sent.
Follow the prompts to enter a new password and confirm the password.
You should receive a green text stating that the password change was successful.
*If you did not receive the email with the secure link, check your SPAM and trash folders in case the email went there instead of your inbox.
Change Password or Enroll
Faculty, staff, students, alumni and pre-college:
This option will only work if you have a working/system generated password.
Visit password.risd.edu and select “Change Password or Enroll”
Enter your username (do not include @risd.edu).
Enter your current password.
You will be prompted to enter your old password (this is your current password).
Enter a new, unique password and again to confirm.
Click Change Password.
You should receive a green text stating that the password change was successful.
How do I Enroll in self-service?
If your password has expired and have not enrolled in self-service, you must contact the Service Desk (401) 454-6106 Monday through Friday (8 AM - 5 PM EST) to change your password over the phone.
