RISDPrints Reprint or Refund Policy
We understand that print output is essential to the success of RISD students. RISD endeavors to provide reliable print facilities and quality print output to the RISD community at competitive prices. We also understand that at times there are unexpected failures in the RISDPrints system. It is our goal to make it right by getting you your expected print job output or, if necessary, a refund of your lost print funds.
If you require a RISDPrints Reprint Refund, please follow the guidelines and protocol outlined below:
- RISD has a Reprint First Policy
- The RISD support staff responsible for each RISDPrints location has the ability to “Reprint” for you — free of charge. In the event of a legitimate reprint or refund request, every effort will be made to provide the printing party with their reasonably expected print output through a reprint of the problem print job.
- Refunds will only be granted in the rare event that a reasonable reprint is determined to be impossible by an Academic area technical representative or Print Center staff member.
- Before submitting a RISDPrints reprint or refund request, the party experiencing the print problem should log into their risdbucks account and verify that they were actually charged for the failed print job.
- Reprints or refunds will only be provided for legitimate reasons (outlined below) which must be verified and confirmed by an Academic area technical representative or Print Center staff member.
- Reprints or refunds must be requested within 48 hours of the print problem.
- Authorized refunds will be granted within two weeks and in the form of risdbucks credits.
Legitimate Reasons for Reprints or Refunds:
Any of the below listed reasons must be verified and confirmed by an Academic area technical representative or Print Center staff member..
- Toner smears or streaks.
- Low toner or too much toner resulting in unacceptable print quality.
- Jammed paper which causes your account to be charged without receiving your print output.
- Other printer-related defects.
Reasons Not Valid for Reprints or Refunds:
Before authorizing and accepting charges, each individual is responsible for verifying their print jobs and the printer to which the print jobs are being sent.
- Printing wrong files. *Use Print Preview to ensure that you are printing the correct file.
- Printing multiple copies of the wrong file. *You should preview what you are printing before printing a copy.
- Do not continue printing when you can see it is not the correct file.
- Printing to the wrong printer. *Carefully verify the printer you are selecting.
- Your document was picked up by someone else. *Print to a printer near you and retrieve jobs promptly.
How to request a Reprint or Refund:
If you experience printing problems, you can request a reprint or refund by following the steps below:
- Bring your printout or explain the situation to your Academic Technician Representative or Print Center staff member.
- If the print problem occurred after business hours or in an otherwise unstaffed print location please report the problem on the next available business day.
- The Academic Technician Representative or Print Center staff member will, subject to the RISDPrints Print Reprint or Refund Policy, reprint your print job for you or submit a refund request to Campus Card Services for each legitimately failed print job.
- In the event that a refund is necessary, you will be required to provide the following information with your request:
- Your RISD ID number as seen on your RISD ID.
- Your first and last name.
- The date, time and place of the print incident.
- The dollar amount requested for refund.
