Canvas Learning Management System
What is Canvas?
Canvas is RISD's Learning Management System (LMS). It is used by learning institutions, educators, and students to access and manage online course learning materials and communicate about skill development and learning achievement.
Canvas includes a variety of customizable course creation and management tools, course and user analytics and statistics, and internal communication tools.
How do I access Canvas?
Visit canvas.risd.edu and select the appropriate login option.

CE Students (*Anyone enrolled in a CE (Continuing Education) course—including RISD faculty, staff or degree program students—should select the CE Students option to access the CE Canvas dashboard. CE courses include Advance Program for High School Students, Adult Extension, Young Artist and Summer Credit Courses.)

Canvas - Important Academic Dates
Fall 2023 - Degree Program Schedule
Now - Courses available in Canvas for faculty to begin preparing.
Now - Faculty are encouraged to upload their course syllabus and publish the course.
Aug 30 - Students may begin to access published courses.
Sept 6 - Fall Semester Begins. Unpublished courses are automatically published.
Dec 13 - Fall Semester Ends.
Dec 20 - Students no longer able to modify content in courses.
Integrated Apps and Services
We have integrated Google Apps, LibGuides, Panopto, VoiceThread and Zoom. Check out the small workgroups to learn more about these integrated tools.
