Workday Student - Friends and Family (Third Party Users) FAQs
Q: How do I obtain Third Party access in Workday as a friend or family member in order to view my student’s information?
A: A student will first add you as a member under their Friends and Family contacts in Workday. They will then assign third party access to you. You will receive your account information at the email address provided by the student in Friends and Family. You may wish to save the url in your favorites for future use.
Q: How do I sign on to my Third Party Account?
A: Visit the RISD Workday website: https://wd5.myworkday.com/risd, select the ‘Parent/Authorized User Login’, enter the username assigned to you and the password you set for yourself. Select the Sign In button. Your main page will open.
Q: I forgot my password. How can I get a new one?
A: Go to your usual Third Party website and click the ‘Forgot Password ?’ link.
A new screen will appear into which you enter your previously assigned username and the email address that you have on record.
You will get an email with the subject line: ‘Password Reset Request for your Workday account’. Click the Reset Your Password link within this email.
Note: You must respond to the password Reset Request email within an hour or the request will time out.
On the screen that appears, enter the new password and verify new password fields and press the Submit button. You will be automatically brought to your account.
Q: How do I find the student information I want to see?
A: Click the Menu icon and your options will display

Q: What does Third Party access in Workday allow a friend or family member to view?
A: Academics for Third Party Access in Workday allows you to see student grades and current courses, if your student has designated such.
Q: How do I view my student’s grades?
A: After clicking the ‘Academics for Third Party’ link from the menu, select ‘Student Grades’.
A message will display if your student has not given you permission to see their grades. Otherwise, choose the term for which you want to see the grades.
'You do not have permission to see this page. Please contact the Student or Institution Administrator for access'.
Even though the message indicates that you can contact an Institution Administrator, you must ask your student to provide access. RISD staff is not authorized to provide this access to you.
Q: How do I view my student’s classes (or courses)?
A: After clicking the ‘Academics for Third Party’ link from the menu, select ‘Current Classes’. A message will display if your student has not given you permission to see their classes. Even though the message indicates that you can contact an Institution Administrator, you must ask your student to provide access. RISD staff is not authorized to provide this access to you.
Q: How do I view my student’s transcript?
A: This is not available in Workday.
Q: How do I add funds for my student’s risdbucks?
A: This function is not available in Workday. Please visit risdbucks.risd.edu.
Q: Can I be a Third Party user for more than one student at RISD?
A: Yes, you can also link your account to see the data for both students.
Q: How do I link my Third Party account to more than one student?
A: Your student must designate you as a Third Party and you must use the same email used for the other student. Once the ‘new’ student has provided permissions to you, you will receive an email with the subject such as ‘A RISD Student has shared their record with you’. Follow the instructions in the email. Once you get back into Workday, review and accept the request.
