Make a Payment

This guide will help Students create a Nelnet account (one-time only) and make a one-time payment in Nelnet. This starts with accessing Workday and then navigating to Nelnet.
Process – Create a Nelnet account (one-time only)
If you do not have a Nelnet Campus Commerce account through Workday, you will need to create your profile. This applies to Students, as well as to Third Parties to whom Students have granted access to make payment to the student account.
In Workday, click the Finances icon on your home page.
Click the Make a Payment link under the Student Accounts heading. This link will take you to Nelnet Campus Commerce, outside of Workday, by opening a new window.
Once in Nelnet, enter your contact details and then click Submit. NOTE: this contact information is for Nelnet purposes only and does not update any information within Workday. Any changes for RISD purposes must be made within the Workday system.
Next, you will be prompted to create a 4-digit PIN for your account to continue, then click OK.
Then, you will have access to Nelnet, as follows:
Process – Make a Payment
Click the Finances icon on your home page in Workday.
Click the Make a Payment link under the Student Accounts heading. This link will take you to your Nelnet account - that you established in the last process - in a new window.
From your Nelnet account dashboard, click Make a Payment.
Enter the dollar amount you wish to pay in the Enter Amount field, and click Next - Payment Method. You may reference your student account balance in Workday in another window.
Select the Payment Method of your choice and enter your payment details. Note that “Credit / Debit Card” carries a 2.85% processing fee.
Follow the remaining instructions in Nelnet to complete and confirm your payment, and be sure to log out of Nelnet when you are done.
You may refer back to Workday to see your one-time payment posted to the student account in the View Account Activity in the Finances Tab, Student Accounts section
