Add or Change Social Security Number
Overview
Your Social Security Number is required to receive federal financial aid and to be eligible to work on campus. A Social Security Number is also required to receive the tax document 1098-T.
RISD receives SSNs from your admissions application or FAFSA so most students will not need to set their SSN.
Add Your Social Security Number
If you're a domestic student, Workday likely already has your Social Security Number from your admissions application or FAFSA.
If you're an international student and just obtained a Social Security Number - usually so you can work on campus - you'll need to enter it in Workday.
Log in to Workday.
In the upper right click your photo or silhouette, then View Profile.
Click Personal
Click IDs
Click Edit > Change My Government IDs

Under National IDs click the + to add a row

In Country select United States of America

In National ID Type select Social Security Number (SSN)

In Add/Edit ID enter your Social Security Number. This is not your resident alien, visa or passport number.

Change Your Social Security Number
If your Social Security Number is wrong in Workday, it's important you correct it. You'll need to upload proof of your SSN such as your Social Security card.
