New Student Onboarding: Review Friends & Family and Add Emergency Contact

RISD requires a person to contact in the event a student experiences an emergency. This can be a parent, relative, or friend.


These directions are for new students completing onboarding in Workday for the first time through the onboarding task.


  1. Log in to Workday.
  2. Click the inbox.
  3. In All Items, select Review Friends and Family/Emergency Contact.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Select the Relationship Type of Emergency Contact and any other relationship (e.g. parent).

  6. Select their Preferred Languages.
  7. Enter their First and Last Name.
  8. Click Contact Information



  9. Under Phone click add. You must enter a number and a Type of number (e.g. home).
  10. Click OK, then Done.
