Propose a Global Travel Course: For Instructors
PROPOSING A GLOBAL SUMMER STUDIES COURSE
The Registrar's Office will give the instructors access to the RISD Global Travel Course form in Coursedog. Faculty will be prompted to upload/attach the following for approval by the Department Head, Division Manager, Divisional Dean, Dean's Council, Academic Administration and Registrar's Office.
a draft syllabus (per the syllabus guidelines)
a draft itinerary, including details of the type of accommodations and local transport being planned and links to potential accommodation solutions if/as known
a draft budget
a draft itinerary Signed Faculty Terms of Agreement
If proposing a WS travel course, a draft syllabus for an on-campus alternate course (in the event that the travel course is under enrolled or canceled due to risk in the region of the travel course)
Faculty may team teach a single course or teach co-requisite courses.
Co-requisite courses are two independent courses that a student must take at the same time. A proposal must be submitted for each co-requisite course for a total of 6 credits.
A cross-listed course is a single course offered for registration under more than one subject code/department. Cross-listings share identical titles, course description and credit hours.
Log into Coursedog at app.coursedog.com using your RISD credentials.
Under Curriculum Management on the left side bar, click Campus.
Select RISD Global Travel Course
Click + Propose New Document at the top, then select the form RISD Global Travel Course
Fill out all Coursedog required fields and attach all required documents.
To find a previously offered travel course, enter the country and/or region in the Existing Course field (e.g. Italy or Rome, Portugal or Azores, etc.)
All changes to your proposal will auto-save; if you need to navigate away from the page before you submit your proposal – and need to access your draft later – you can find that at Curriculum Management > Drafts.
Enter Instructor name(s) (e.g. your name and co-instructor, if applicable) in the Staffing section.
Submit Proposal from the bottom of the page, or the right-hand toolbar under Actions.
If your proposal is returned for revision, you can find your proposal at Curriculum Management > Proposals. Proposals that require your review and vote will be under the Vote Required tab.
Click on your proposal and navigate to the Proposal Toolbox on the right-hand side, then click the Activity tab to view decision comments. If edits are needed, click Edit Proposal at the top.
Click Save Changes on the right-hand toolbar, then select Do Not Reset Workflow (Recommended) and click Save.
To send the proposal back to the workflow, click the Decision tab, select Approve then click Submit Decision.
