Cannot Connect to Shared Drives From Off-Campus (Windows)

Confirm you are connected to RISD's VPN.

*Avoid using off-line sync with shared drives - NOT recommended

To verify you are NOT syncing offline files:

- Type Control Panel in the search bar bottom left of your laptop
- Once in Control Panel, Choose Sync Center
- Click "Manage Offline Files"
- Disable Offline Files
- Restart your system



Some shared folders are very large (i.e. 400 GBs). The local computer would need to have enough space to sync the entire contents. Otherwise, it will fail.  In addition, when using offline folders on a share drive (accessed by other users) runs the risk of overwriting files that were edited while OFFLINE.
