The following minimum requirements are based on security recommendations as well as the software and services used by our community. To avoid service disruptions make sure your devices are kept up to date with the most current operating system unless otherwise notified by ITS to delay a specific upgrade.

Note for users with RISD owned computers: Please reach out to the ITS Service Desk or to your Department Technician before attempting to upgrade the software on your computer.

Minimum Security Requirements and Duo

Duo, RISD's 2FA program, requires both the access device and the authenticating device to meet the minimum requirements. This means the computer, web browser, or phone you are using to access Workday as well as the iOS or Android device used for the 2 factor authentication process needs to be up to date. Duo will prompt you if a device is out-of-date or has reached end-of-life.

macOS 14 Sonoma - ITS tested and approved! OK to upgrade

ITS Computer Specialists and other participating Department Technicians have confirmed our core software applications and services are compatible with macOS 14 Sonoma. The RISD community may upgrade their Apple computers to the newest Mac operating system, macOS 14 Sonoma.
