Manage Student Notes in Workday

Notes

You can record a note about a student. Advising notes typically are related to a student’s class choice or curriculum exceptions. Your department can provide guidance.

View Student Notes

  1. At the top in the search bar, enter a student’s name or ID number and press enter

  2. Click the student where the word “Student” appears under their name. (If you do not see this, click Search Configuration and drag Student into Saved Categories or check the student name spelling)




  1. On the left, click History




  2. At the top, click Note History


Add a Student Note


  1. From your Advising dashboard (Menu > Academic Advising Dashboard), click Add Student Note OR 
    on the student’s Note History screen click Add Student Note.

  2. Choose a Note Topic, add your Note, and determine if you would like for the note to be visible to the student. Students do not receive an email if a note has been added even if you choose to share with the student.

    Notes made under the topic Advising can be seen by faculty advisors, academic department administrative staff, the Registrar’s Office and certain Student Affairs staff.

  3. Click OK


Edit a Student Note


You can only edit a note that you authored


  1. Navigate to the note you wish to edit or delete

  2. Under Note Content, hover to the right of the text to make the Related Actions button appear, then click Student Notes > Edit.
