Panopto Video Online Storage & Archive

In the Panopto platform, videos are stored in two distinct ways: online storage and archival storage.

• Online Storage
  Immediate Playback: Videos in online storage are ready for instant viewing.
  Multiple Formats: The system keeps many copies of your videos in various formats and resolutions to ensure playback compatibility across different devices and internet connections.
• Archival Storage
  Archive Policy: Videos that have not been viewed within the last two years are archived on a rolling basis.
  No Immediate Playback: Videos in archival storage aren't available for instant viewing, however, any viewer can restore videos from the archive to online storage.
  Single Format: The system retains the best-quality copy of your video; the lower-quality formats are discarded.
