Network Shared Drives
Network Shared Drives or Network Resources are a collection of network folders on RISD's Active Directory File servers that are available for faculty, staff and students to store and share documents, projects, etc. NOTE: This article does not refer to other shared network services like Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or DropBox.
The five basic Network Resources are:
studenttemp - server for temporary storage of files for faculty and student access.
student/myfiles - student server for personal folders and files. Each student is allotted 1GB of space.
facstaff/myfiles - faculty and staff server for personal folders and files. Each member is allotted 1GB of space.
shared - classroom/project use and shared department files. See shared folders below for more information.
publicaccess - public server to share files with all faculty and staff
How do I access my network resources while on-campus?
Your access will vary based on your access method. Pelase contact the Service Desk.
How do I access my network resources while off-campus?
First, you will need RISD's VPN installed and connected on your computer.

Shared Folders for Administrative Use
These folders are established to share, store and back-up files within individual departments. Faculty and Staff have access to these folders with their RISD Account. A faculty or staff member's Supervisor can request access for these folders.
Shared Folders for Academic Use
Some academic departments use this space for websites and classroom use. This account has its own unique credentials to access this space. Faculty must provide students with login information for class.
